Earth Day

April 22, 2018

Today, join us in celebrating Earth Day!
At Aromatic Vitality we honestly feel that every day is Earth Day, but it's always nice to have an extra reason to celebrate. So today we give additional recognition to Mother Nature, for all the bounty of botanical beauty she offers to support our wellness and vitality every day of the year.

On my sunrise walk this morning, Mother Earth felt more alive than ever. A slight breeze carried the scent of Jasmine across the hills, Apple blossoms peeked out from under their leaves and the Poppies and Lupine seemed to jump right out of the ground to say, "Yay, spring is here!"  Everywhere I turned there was another marvel, and a simple morning walk became extraordinary. The experience made me so happy that my cheeks hurt from smiling!

There are so many wonderful moments waiting to be experienced in nature.  In a few countries, including Japan, studies are exploring the benefits of forest bathing. Forest bathing, a practice that melds mindfulness and nature immersion, has been found to deepen the connection with Mother Earth. Proof that when we make the time to experience nature, we realize just how important the connection to Earth is for our vitality.

Everything we do has an impact on the Earth and all those who reside here; we are all one. As I tend my garden, I am reminded by this very fact. Plants make our Earth what it is today, and they're so very similar to us. They grow, live, change - age just like us. They weather the years, thriving as they grow from season to season.

Some plants get better with age. Lavendula angustifolia, for example, takes three years before the essential oils can be harvested.  Many other fruit trees, plants, and herbs don't even blossom in their first few years of life. Thus, we become trusted caretakers, keeping the Earth and environment safe for future blooms to thrive. Just like our own honored elderly people, if we provide conditions for a plant to live their best life into old age, we benefit from incredible wisdom.

Chief Seattle said it best; “humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread with in it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.“

Wishing you an abundantly beautiful Earth Day.
